A pro-trans solidarity design by trans artist Jaimie McCaw. "Protect the dolls" is a phrase rooted in trans and drag communities — "dolls" is an in-community term of affection for trans women, and "protect the dolls" is both a celebration and a call to solidarity.

This design was requested by multiple customers, and you know us — ask and ye shall receive.

Art by Jaimie McCaw.

Mid weight, 180 GSM, 100% combed cotton

What does "Protect The Dolls" mean?
"The dolls" is an in-community term of endearment for trans women, originating in ballroom and drag culture. "Protect the dolls" is a phrase of solidarity — a reminder that trans women, especially trans women of colour, face disproportionate violence and need active protection and support from allies.

Who designed this tee?
Jaimie McCaw, a trans artist. We specifically chose a trans artist for this design — it was important to us that a pro-trans solidarity piece come from inside the community rather than being designed by an ally.

Is this a good Pride or ally gift?
Yes, for trans people and trans allies. The design works year-round, not just during Pride — the need for trans solidarity isn't seasonal. Buying this tee supports Jaimie's work and contributes to Lonely Kids Club's broader support of LGBTQ+ artists and causes.

Most of our products are sourced through AS Colour and other ethical suppliers who we chose specifically because of their high quality products and transparent ethical processes. You can read more about our ethical clothing approach, our slow fashion production model and how our garments are printed in Sydney.

Each garment is printed to order in Sydney using ethically sourced garments as part of our slow fashion production model rather than mass produced in large quantities. This allows us to reduce waste and maintain a more responsible production approach.

Some of the social responsibility measures we take include:

  • Transparency around production and promotion of fair, healthy, and safe practices.
  • Partnership with The Better Cotton Initiative.
  • Responsibly sourcing materials and ensuring ethical practices are maintained throughout our supply chain.

All by-products of the printing process are either reused or recycled. We have removed nearly all plastic from our supply chain. Our ink cartridges are reused. All of our cardboard is recycled and we work with a supplier in Western Sydney who breaks down the components of our leftover ink into environmentally friendly nutrients to enrich soil.
