This is the collection for when you love a movie, a show, a cartoon, or a very specific corner of the internet, and you want the reference on a tee without it being a licensed merchandise product. Original designs by us and the artists we work with, all printed in our Sydney studio since 2011. The references range from obvious to extremely niche. Some are direct homage, some are visual puns, some are designs that only fully land if you've seen a particular thing at 2am and not stopped thinking about it since.

Original Pop Culture T-Shirts, Not Licensed Merch

Worth being upfront: this isn't where you'll find official Harry Potter or Marvel merchandise. If that's what you want, the bigger licensed retailers do that well. What you'll find here instead is indie graphic designer takes on pop culture, which is a different thing. An oblique reference to a cult film. A character reimagined in our artist's style. A joke that requires you to have watched a specific episode of a specific show. The appeal is that nobody else is selling the same design, because we designed it ourselves.

Cult Movies, TV and Cartoons

A lot of the collection references movies and shows that have a cult following rather than mainstream recognition. British comedies, 90s cartoons, specific episodes that became memes, adjacent horror, things our customers have asked us to make. Products like the Crack Fox Jumper, the Designated Adam Driver Tee, and Tony Harrison Tee give you a sense of the territory. Not exactly obvious, not exactly obscure.

Anime and Animated References

The anime and animation side of the collection skews toward artist interpretations rather than direct reproductions. Kodama and forest spirit designs, character tributes, visual nods that a fan will clock immediately. Denji Tee is an example of what this looks like in practice.

Internet Culture and Very Specific Humour

Some of the designs sit at the overlap of pop culture and internet humour. Things that aren't quite memes but aren't quite traditional pop culture references either. The Identity Theft Hoodie, the Food Groups Jumper, RPGs Are My Religion Tee. These often get the most sidelong glances in public because they require the viewer to understand both the reference and the particular angle we've taken on it.

Ethical Production, Printed in Sydney

Every tee in this collection is printed to order in our Sydney studio on AS Colour blanks that are Amfori BSCI audited, Better Cotton Initiative certified, and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. Made to order means no deadstock. Sustainable Jungle named Lonely Kids Club as one of Australia's sustainable graphic tee brands. Pop culture shouldn't require fast fashion to be wearable.

Sizing, Fits and Shipping

XS through 5XL across regular, oversized, long sleeve and crop fits. Hoodies, jumpers and the occasional bottom when we make them. All unisex, all AS Colour, all printed in Sydney. Free Australian shipping on orders over $85, international via DHL Express.

Why do indie pop culture tees cost more than licensed merch?

Because we print them to order in Australia and pay the artists who design them. Licensed merchandise gets volume-produced overseas and the margins are different. Our tees aren't cheaper, but they're also not mass-produced and the designs are original to us. If you've got a choice between a $15 generic Simpsons tee and a $45 original design referencing a scene you've been quoting for years, different people will make different calls on that.

Can I request a pop culture design?

We get a lot of requests and can't make everything, but we do listen. If there's a specific thing you'd buy a tee of if it existed, drop us a line. The memes collection is also worth a look if you're shopping in similar territory.
