Championing mental health support and standing up for human rights have always been central to the Lonely Kids Club brand. In particular, trans rights are a cause that means a lot to us personally. While we aren’t a big business with large profit margins, we try to regularly run mutual aid drives where 100% of our profits go to supporting causes we believe in. In the past, this has included mental health awareness, environmental action, animal welfare, First Nations support, and aid for people affected by conflicts around the world. LGBT+ organisations we’ve raised funds for previously include Transcend and Minus18.
This year, for the entirety of Trans Awareness Week, we’ve decided to fundraise for A Gender Agenda. 100% of profits from all sales sitewide until the 19th of November will be donated directly to them. Founded in 2005, this year is their 20th anniversary.
AGA is a unique community organisation actively engaged in increasing public awareness and understanding of intersex, trans and gender diversity issues. In addition to training and education, we provide advocacy and support services, information and resources and are actively engaged in human rights and law reform.

We have several gender diverse artists who regularly contribute artwork to our site. One of our longer relationships is with Jaimie McCaw. Jaimie suggested a drive for AGA and put together some beautiful new artwork to commemorate this week. Here’s what Jaimie wanted to say* to you all:
“I’d known about AGA and had been following them for a while on social media, but it took some time for me to join and start going to events because of social anxiety. I’ve mostly been going to the Wednesday afternoon drop-ins whenever I’m not too exhausted after work, and it’s been really great getting to know and spend time around other trans and gender diverse people, as well as other people in my local community in general, especially since I’m someone who has a tendency to isolate myself in my free time.
“AGA provides a lot of support, information, and resources for trans and intersex Canberrans and our allies, which is immensely helpful considering how challenging life can be for us - financially, socially, legally, etc. It’s also really awesome to just have a community of people to spend time with outside of work and home that doesn't come at a financial cost! Accessible third spaces are few and far between these days 😭
“I've also just been wanting to actively do more good. There's a lot of awful things happening in the world and it's really easy to feel powerless and overwhelmed not being able to just fix it all. I decided to take a step back and ask myself what specific steps I can take that will actually help people and make a positive impact.”
