Gifts for Tea Lovers Who Already Have Enough Mugs

If someone's kettle is permanently on, a tea-themed gift is a fairly good place to start. The harder part is choosing something that feels like them. Cute little tea pun? A bag they can use every day? Or “tea” in the sense of needing to know absolutely everyone's business?

I'm Warwick, founder of Lonely Kids Club. These are gifts from our own range, with original artwork by Nichameleon, Claire Harrison and me. We print them to order in our Sydney studio. This guide is for the tea person who already has the mug situation well under control.

My starting point: choose Cute-Tea for a friendly pun, Tea Cosy for the person who loves a quiet cuppa, or What's The Tea for your designated gossip correspondent. If you don't know their clothing size, the Cute-Tea Tote takes that decision out of it.

A quick way to choose a tea lover gift

Cute-Tea Tee: a small bit of encouragement

Cute-Tea Tee featuring Nichameleon's smiling teacup and tea-pun lettering

Nichameleon's Cute-Tea Tee has a smiling cup, a little heart and a floating tea bag under “You're a Cute-Tea”. The joke is affectionate, so it's a good choice for a friend, partner or family member who likes cute illustration more than a loud slogan.

It also gives you a way to make the present personal without commissioning custom artwork. A note saying “for the person who always puts the kettle on” does quite a lot of the work. The same illustration comes on the tote below if they'd use a bag more often than a printed tee.

The tee currently lists Regular, Maple, Crop Top and Long Sleeve cuts in ecru. Choose the shape first, then the size. Those cuts have different lengths and proportions; a medium in one isn't a promise that another medium will fit the same way.

Cute-Tea Tote: when you know their tea order, not their tee size

Cream canvas tote with Nichameleon's smiling cup and You're a Cute-Tea artwork

The Cute-Tea Tote carries Nichameleon's illustration on a cream shoulder bag. It is 37 × 46 cm, made from 320 GSM cotton canvas, with reinforced shoulder straps, an extra-wide shape and a squared-off hem.

Think about what they carry before choosing a bag. A book, a few everyday essentials or some shopping make a different sort of gift from something they wear. Compare those dimensions with a bag they already use; the measurements are more helpful than simply calling it a large tote.

For a smaller birthday or Secret Santa present, the tote is an easy starting point because you don't need to guess a clothing size. If you're putting a few things together, it can also be the bag that holds a packet of their favourite tea and your card. The tote is sold on its own; you choose any extras separately.

Tea Cosy Tee: for the cuppa-and-couch person

Claire Harrison's Tea Cosy artwork with a frog in an armchair beside a fireplace and I Like My Tea Cosy lettering

Claire Harrison's Tea Cosy Tee shows a frog settled into an armchair beside a fireplace, with a teapot and “I Like My Tea Cosy” lettering. It came from a request by Lyn in our LKC community. A very reasonable scene to want on a T-shirt.

I'd choose this one for someone whose idea of a good evening involves making tea and staying home, especially if they also love frogs. It has more of a little illustrated scene than Cute-Tea, so the choice comes down to whether they'd rather wear a character or a simple pun.

This is also the oversized tea T-shirt option in this guide. The listing currently offers an Oversized Tee cut alongside Regular, Maple, Crop Top and Long Sleeve, with several colours. If the recipient likes a wide, boxy tee, choose that cut and check its own measurements.

What's The Tea Tee: for your gossip correspondent

The What's The Tea Tee is mine. It comes from that very reasonable position of not wanting any drama while urgently needing all the details when it's about somebody else. Please spill the tea.

Choose this for the friend who will get that meaning straight away. Cute-Tea is the warmer little compliment; What's The Tea is the joke between people who always have something to discuss. The listing currently has white and black options, with Regular, Maple, Crop Top and Long Sleeve cuts.

How to choose a tea T-shirt for someone else

A size label is only part of the decision. Start with a tee they already enjoy wearing and compare its shape with the LKC tee fit guide.

  • Regular: a longer body, with room for broader shoulders and a straighter shape through the hips.
  • Maple: a shorter body and sleeves, shaped for narrower shoulders and more room through the bust and hips.
  • Oversized: a deliberately wider, boxier body with dropped shoulders. Tea Cosy is the featured design that offers this cut.
  • Crop Top or Long Sleeve: choose these because the person already likes that length or sleeve style, then compare the relevant size chart.

Lay their favourite tee flat, measure across the body and from shoulder to hem, and compare like with like. A flat garment width is different from a measurement around the whole body. Check the selected fit's size chart and current product options rather than assuming every design has the same range.

If this is a surprise and you have no reliable size to work from, choose the tote. You still get the artwork without needing to secretly inspect their wardrobe.

Buying for a birthday, Christmas or Secret Santa

For a birthday, start with the person's everyday taste: the quiet tea ritual, the cute pun or the ongoing gossip. For Christmas, order around the printing and delivery time as well as the gift date. For Secret Santa, a tote can be simpler than clothing if you don't know the recipient well enough to choose a fit.

Check the price of the actual colour, fit and size you select, plus delivery, against your budget. The product pages carry current prices and availability. If you want a matching present, the Cute-Tea Tee and Tote share the same illustration, but they are separate products.

We print after you order, so time in the studio comes before time in the post. Our current Australian standard delivery estimate is generally 2–7 business days after production. Read the current production, shipping and Christmas guidance before buying for a fixed date. Express shipping changes the postal stage; if the deadline is close, email mail@lonelykidsclub.com before ordering.

Questions about gifts for tea lovers

What can I buy a tea lover who already has enough mugs?

A tea-themed tee or canvas tote lets them enjoy the joke away from the kitchen. Choose Cute-Tea for the smiling cup, Tea Cosy for the relaxed frog scene, or What's The Tea for someone who loves the gossip.

Which tea gift works when I don't know their clothing size?

The Cute-Tea Tote has one shoulder-tote format rather than clothing sizes. It measures 37 × 46 cm, so you can still check whether its shape suits the way they use a bag.

Do you have an oversized tea T-shirt?

Tea Cosy currently offers an Oversized Tee cut. Use the oversized tee measurements before choosing. Cute-Tea and What's The Tea have their own available cuts; check each listing rather than applying Tea Cosy's options to all three designs.

Can I return a gift if I choose the wrong size?

Our returns policy allows eligible items to be returned within 100 days for a refund, store credit or exchange. Items must be unworn apart from trying on, unwashed and in their original condition. Check the policy and any product-specific exceptions before ordering.

Where are the tea gifts printed?

We apply the artwork, pack and dispatch orders from our Sydney studio. The blank garments and bags are manufactured separately before they reach us. You can read more about the people behind the designs on our About Us page.

If you know which tea person you're buying for, start with the design above. For more edible personality traits, browse our food T-shirts. You can also compare the wider canvas tote collection if the bag is the part you want.
