Product Details

A year or so ago, I went shopping to try buy a new parka jacket. I found that all the ones I liked were about $300, made in China anyway, and I felt like rather than paying for the quality of the garment, I was just paying extra for the store space, the staff, their investors etc. I figured I could do better. I realised I could make a better quality product for half the price, hand make it in Melbourne, and make my own personal touches like using burnt wooden buttons, and personally choosing my own inner-lining fabric.

Welcome to the LKC Pokemon Parka jacket.

You guys know how much I love Pokemon. It defined my childhood. So I printed my favourite shot of Ash, Misty & Brock together (The dream team) to use as an inside pocket, and then sourced a vintage 90’s Pokemon fabric from the US to use inside the hood. It features Pokemon, the logo and all these little shaded pokemon throughout. Then on top of that I added a special Kinder Surprise feature – Every jacket arrives with a pokemon toy (chosen at random) hidden inside a front jacket pocket. Boom.

As always I added the feature that you can keep your hands warm behind the front pocket. I also did an industry no-no and used a 100% cotton rayon as inner-lining instead of a polyester blend because it’s just so nice and soft to wear. Plus I’m still using my special stash of 100% Australian cotton twill as outer-lining. The company that used to make it went under but I stocked up in advance. I figure if I’m going to make a parka, I’m going to do it properly.

It’ll keep you warm, dry (can confirm) & when the fabric runs out it’s gone for good / will never be re-released after this season.

James is 6 foot and wearing a medium, Miki is 5 foot 7 and wearing a medium.
