Jeanne Little (1938-2020) is arguably Australia's first female comedian - but she was much more than that!

She was an incredible dressmaker who lit up the screens of daytime TV and was a household name in Australia in the 1970s-1990s.

Known and adored for her flamboyant nature, distinctive voice and catch-cry "Ooooah Dahling!" she was cherished by housewives around the nation and is also recognised as a gay icon because of her wonderful gift to inspire people to be truly uniquely themselves and celebrate their natural gifts and talents.

Incredibly, homosexuality was still illegal in NSW until 1984 and her vibrant presence on the screen and fabulously camp style of humour advanced the cause of not only accepting and normalising, but celebrating gay culture. The LGBTQI community also recognise her love and support when the terror of AIDS arrived in Australia in 1983.

A little known fact about Jeanne Little is that she had a debilitating stutter, and that's the reason she elongated her words! The youngest of seven children in a very poor, single-parent household, her mother, a dressmaker let her stay home from school because she was so shy which is how she learned to sew. Jeanne emulated the style of her favourite movie stars and made clothes out of anything she could find - shredding organza to look like ostrich feathers, silver tinfoil, milk-bottle caps, garbage bags and clean industrial waste, even prawn crackers!

As a woman she was a trailblazer - writing her own comedy segments for live television every week and holding her own in a very misogynistic industry. She won the Gold Logie for Most Popular Television Personality plus two silver logies, and was awarded the Order Of Australia for her tireless contribution to many charities. She is remembered as a truly wonderful person with extraordinary energy, incredible talent and ingenuity, humility and immense generosity by all who crossed her path.

You can read more about the fabulous real life Cinderella story of Jeanne Little in her daughter Katie M Little's black humour memoir 'Catch A Falling Star - A Story About Growing Up with Jeanne Little' - available at LittleFamily.live

Lonely Kids Club invests its profits into a variety of non-for-profit welfare groups and charities. One of the biggest groups we work with is Animal Rescue Cooperative. To date we have raised over $50,000 for Animal Rescue Services in Australia.

We also raise money for broad range of charities such Headspace, Transcend Australia and The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

Most of our products are sourced through AS Colour and other ethical suppliers who we chose specifically because of their high quality products and transparent ethical processes. Some of the social responsibility measures we take include:

- Transparency around production and promotion of fair, healthy, and safe practices.

- Partnership with The Better Cotton Initiative.

- Responsibly sourcing materials and ensuring ethical practices are maintained all through our supply chain.

All by-products of the printing process are either reused or recycled. We have removed nearly all plastic from our supply chain. Our ink cartridges are reused. All of our cardboard is recycled and we work with a supplier in Western Sydney who breaks down the components of our leftover ink into environmentally friendly nutrients to enrich soil.
